Any self-respecting Internet user knows that FAQ stands for 'Frequently Asked Questions'.
Below, we try to answer your questions as clearly as possible - well, sometimes at least!

What is the FED?

FED stands for the Foundation for the Exploration of Dreams, also called the 'Institute'.
The Museum of Supernatural History is the archaeological wing of the Institute. The Laboratory for Research into Sensitives recruits staff and develops their innate gifts.
The SD (Search & Destroy) section corrects the unfortunate excesses of the other Departments - especially those of the Rituals and Invocations section and the Department of Cryptozoology and Teratology.

Does the Museum really exist?

The Museum is the virtual façade of one of the largest collections of magic and bizarre artefacts in existence. The collection is real and it is possible to activate the 'powers' of the objects in the collection.

Back to top of page

Do you ever intend to exhibit this fabulous collection?

That depends mainly on the willingness of the Collector, who owns the Museum. Various ideas and projects are currently under consideration.

The descriptions you give are pretty strange.

Hmm, that's not really a question - but we'll let you off this time! Perhaps you would prefer to visit a more conventional museum where, next to an Egyptian scarab made of earthenware, you'll find a little card with the following helpful text:
"Egyptian scarab in earthenware". And when you ask for more information, the attendant tells you that it is an Egyptian scarab made of earthenware.
One day museum attendants may actually learn that culture can be entertaining.

How does one go about joining the Institute?

1. As a Sensitive, you will have a chance to look after a department suited to your gifts.
2. If you have 6 eyes, a scaly skin and speak modern Arcturian without an accent, then you will be more than welcome at the Department of Cryptozoology and Teratology.
3. If you are a fluent reader of Ge'ez, Mongolian or an ancient Semitic language such as Syriac, and you can spare us some of your free time, then we have texts requiring translation in the Library. Please contact the Curator.

What is a 'sensitive'?

All Museum staff members are sensitives.
We don't know where they get it from.
Some of us are more sensitive than others to the Invisible. In traditional tribes, sensitives hold the position of shaman, healer, griot, djinamori, sorcerer, miracle-worker or magician. They live apart from the group, but are not rejected by it. They are sometimes even the memory or conscience of the group. In the Bible, they were part of the line of prophets. Our rituals and rites teach them how to develop and control their 'powers'. Certain secret societies possess - sometimes without the knowledge of their non-Sensitive members - the rituals to active these capabilities.
Our 'civilised' societies rejects these functions, but sensitives are always present. Some end up in a psychiatric ward, others become extraordinary artists, famous seers or members of the Institute.
If properly guided and trained, they have the power to change things for good or evil.
The stories and tales accompanying the collections found in the Museum conceal bizarre realities. It is up to you to make allowances. Learn to read between the lines because we are not going to make things easy for you.

How does one go about becoming a sensitive?

One does not 'become' a sensitive; one is born a sensitive, although such sensitivity is innate to varying degrees.
A sensitive always hides his gifts from the uninitiated.
There are various indicators of sensitivity:

  • Your intelligence is slightly above average and you have an artistic mind that tends towards the bizarre - and you don't like football.
  • You have a very offbeat sense of humour.
  • You can repeat and read 'supercalifragilisticexpialidocious' perfectly after reading it just once.
  • You sometimes get feelings of déjà vu.
  • You consider the existence of Céline Dion as evidence that the Apocalypse has begun.
  • You answer questions before they are even asked.
  • You sometimes get feelings of déjà vu.
  • One of your ancestors was burned at the stake. The last time you played with a Ouija board and an effigy of the demon Pazuzu, the message 'Howdy' appeared.
  • You sometimes get feelings of déjà vu
  • You are actually able to tear toilet paper along the perforations.
  • Hee, hee, hee - I told you we weren't going to make things easy for you!
  • etc..

Supercakliti...What on earth is that?!

Sorry, you're not a sensitive.

How do you train sensitives?

The Institute's teaching regimen is secret. We can tell you that there are nine levels of sensitives. You can become an Investigator or Storyteller from level 5 and up, and between levels 7 and 9 you will join the management team of the Institute or the Surnateum.

What is the rarest piece in the Museum?

There are many rare and unique objects: the Vampire Killing Kit, the Quena Ollantay, Croze and Orazi's magical calendar - it's hard to say.
However, the rarest and most worrying main piece - an object of immense power - is that which is hidden within the Secret Department.

What is the oldest haunted antique in your collection?

Definitely the curse tablet from the 5th dynasty of Egypt. It is around 4,500 years old.

The objects in your collection are relics from the past. They should be in a Museum!

Sorry, Professor Jones, but they are in a Museum. A virtual museum, but a museum nevertheless...

If you're such a 'sensitive', then tell me what I'm thinking!

You have a feeling of déjà vu.

Send them immediately to the Museum. In return, we will send you a blessing that allows you to to purify your home forever.

What should I do to avoid being possessed by a C'thulu?

Proceed immediately to the hospital nearest your home and ask to be taken to the psychiatric ward.
There you will be given a pretty off-white cotton shirt whose sleeves are attached to your back using leather straps. It will also protect you from brain-frying cosmic rays and an attack of blue octopuses from Uranus.

Are you stark raving mad?

Coming face to face with a Trickster god like Eshu during a ritual does leave indelible traces - no doubt about it.
But then again, deep down, how do you know that you are normal?
