Investigation - Phase 1: HWW protocol (interrogate witnesses in isolation in an atmosphere of helpfulness and kindness)

  • How does the phenomenon manifest itself?
    • Type of manifestation: visual, aural, olfactory, tactile, other (feelings of unease, etc.)
    • Poltergeist
  • Where does the phenomenon manifest itself?
    • Address
    • Site of manifestation: outdoors - indoors
  • When does the phenomenon manifest itself?
    • Day, time
    • Duration of manifestation
    • Repetitive or one-off occurrence? Frequency.
    • Link to season, temperature, lunar cycle or certain planetary conjunctions
    • Link to 'atmosphere' in the home (tension, fear, nervousness, etc.)

Investigation - Phase 2: Field research

  • Authorisation to carry out an investigation
    • Investigation into the conditions at the site: map of the site, hidden spring or stream/river, nearby road, plumbing, sewers, etc.
    • Presence of rats or small rodents/birds in the walls
    • Investigation in surrounding area: local works, relations with neighbours, personal enemies
    • Background investigation: deaths or violence at the site,
    • Family investigation: emotion or other disorders
  • Finding the site and isolating the phenomenon
    • Using an astrological dial to ascertain planetary influences and estimate when the next haunting will take place.
    • Meticulous search, probing, location of any evidence of trickery, use of pendulum, divining rod, key

Investigation - Phase 3: Contact

  • Try to determine the identity of the phenomenon
    • Result of previous research
    • Understand why the haunting is happening at this site and at this time
    • Prepare objects: rattle, toys, photos of the deceased; measure the distances at which objects are placed and mark their positions.
  • Communicate
    • Find a way to communicate (interrogate using letters, pictures or tarot cards; avoid automatic writing)
    • Remain calm under all circumstances
    • Understand why the haunting is taking place and resolve the problem
    • As a last resort, calmly recite the prayer for the dead.
